Overseas Mission

Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” [Matthew 28:18-20]

We believe that the good news of Jesus is for all the peoples of all the world.

The parish supports overseas mission in several ways:
– Through donating a portion of the parish income to various overseas missions. The primary one is the Anglican Missions Board which acts as a support and funding umbrella for a wide range of mission partners and projects. Other organisations supported in recent years have been: EdAid,  NZ CMS (The New Zealand Church Missionary Society), and cbm NZ (Christian Blind Mission)

– Through donations arising from fundraising activities and events, going to organisations like Fred Hollows Foundation, Leprosy Mission, Tear Fund, and OpenDoors.
Mercy Mission too has close links with the parish; 2 parishioners are the NZ administrator, and a trust board member.

– Through relationships of regular correspondence and prayer support – primarily for Charley Tom heading Mercy Mission in India, and Arthur and Julia serving with NZCMS somewhere in the desert.
A long-standing and faithful local branch of NZCMS  is connected with the parish and holds periodic information events and meetings.
Representatives of various mission endeavours speak at services in Whanganui when here on furlough or engaged in supporters tours.
